DELRAY BEACH — The last of the big names went down Thursday at the Delray Beach Open as Frances Tiafoe defeated Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina 7-6(6), 4-6, 7-5.

Tiafoe, considered one of the rising stars of the ATP World Tour, will play Hyeon Chung of South Korea in a quarter-final match Friday evening at the Delray Beach Tennis Center. Martin, the tournament's No. 2 seed, won the tournament in 2011, and has used Delray Beach twice as the place to begin comeback efforts from serious injuries incurred during the previous season.

This year, however, he came into Delray healthy and ranked 11th in the ATP standings. Tiafoe said he had some nerves at the beginning of the match as Del Potro got off to a quick start. Tiafoe settled in, however, and took the opening set.

Chung, the 8th seed and the tournament's only remaining seeded player, defeated Franko Skugor of Croatia 6-4, 7-6(4). The South Korean took a 4-0 lead in the second set but Skugor rallied to tie the set at 5 as play became a bit ragged.
